“NWDC: A Textile Hang” at Living Room Wines

NWDC: A Textile Hang brings contemporary textile work by Oregon members of Northwest Designer Craftartists into Living Room Wines, a queer-owned, community-focused neighborhood gathering place.
Featuring work by Ann Johnston, Barbara Burwell, and Barbara Walker, the exhibition centers on quilts and assemblage, exploring how artists layer, join, collect, and transform materials. Drawing upon the visual language of painting, these works use color, composition, and pattern to bring separate materials, histories, and ideas into new relationships.
Together, the works demonstrate how long-held textile traditions and techniques can be reimagined through contemporary approaches, creating forms that feel both new and enduring.
Join the participating artists, organizers, fellow TextileX Month participants, and neighbors for a free opening reception on October 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. The gathering offers an informal opportunity to experience the work, share conversation, and build connections across Portland’s textile community. No food or beverage purchase is required to attend.

Though current community transmission is low, we strongly recommend all attendees wear a mask indoors. Stay home if you are feeling sick, as you will not be permitted to attend events.
