Thomas Hoadley Nerikomi Workshop 2

Thomas Hoadley Nerikomi Workshops
June 5-6 and June 7-8

We are offering the workshop twice, due to popular demand.

NERIKOMI WORKSHOPS WITH THOMAS HOADLEY

Internationally known ceramics artist Thomas Hoadley will present a two-day workshop introducing the basics of the ancient Japanese technique of Nerikomi, creating patterns with colored clay, in a hands-on workshop at Seward Park Clay Studio. Demonstrations will include preparing colored clay with ceramic stains and some basic introductory pattern techniques as well as strategies for creating both loose and highly controlled pattern designs. Experimenting with design creation is the thrust of the workshop but ample time will be given for transforming the slices of colored clay into vessels or sculptural forms. Experience with basic handbuilding techniques is required. Finished work will be bisque fired at the studio after the workshop, if requested. Register here on April 8
